Robovský, J., Melichar, L., & Gippoliti, S. (2020). Zoos and conservation in the Anthropocene: opportunities and problems. Pp. 451-484.
This chapter presents a review of the activities of modern zoos and describes the challenges zoos are facing. The authors lean towards the concept of zoos as institutions focused on conservation of biodiversity, employing rational management, making use of some natural processes. In this respect, many zoos have capacity for significant improvement.
