Field ornithology

High diversity of dietary and reproductive tactics in birds are of broad scientific interest. Our results for example show that the relationship predator – prey is working differently in Central and Northern Europe. We are also interested in dietary tactics of urbanized birds of prey and owls (Eurasian kestrel, Long-eared owl). In the tropical regions (Papua New Guinea, Cameroon) we try to uncover ecology of poor known species and functioning of avian communities. Other topics include vocal communication in birds, especially mimickers and duetting species, or impact of anthropogenic activities on population of birds (e.g. mortality of birds on the electricity pylons).
