Research and professional interests:
Evolution of (fish) biodiversity in the Neotropics and in the tropics in general, phylogeny and historical biogeography, historical ecology and evolution of life history traits, biology of freshwater fishes, rainforest biology, marine biology, geodiversity-biodiversity, phylogeny-ontogeny, vertebrate zoology, vertebrate paleontology, major transformations and adaptations during vertebrate evolution, biology of extinct vertebrates.

Professional training:
Analysis of morphological characters, description of species and genera new to science, laboratory morphological and developmental biology techniques, aquaristics, laboratory methods of molecular biology, phylogenetic analysis of morphological and molecular characters, methods of historical biogeography and ecology, molecular clock estimation, logistics of field work, bushcraft, range of fishing methods, scuba diving (diver qualification CMAS P*, PADI P**), canoeing, rafting. Languages: Czech (native), English, German, Spanish (Portuguese).
