About the department
The Department of Zoology is responsible for the Zoology and Entomology Master’s and Doctoral programmes. The Ph.D. programmes are designed to provide students with a thorough overview of biology, ecology and the evolution of animals, and with a good knowledge of modern zoological methodology.
The main areas are the following: Archeozoology, Biology of ladybugs and invasion ecology, Biology of small African mammals, Tropical ecology, Cognitive ethology of birds, Diversity and evolution of Neotropical fishes, Ecology and biogeography of butterflies, Ecology and ethology of birds, Ecophysiology and population biology of animals, Evolution and phylogeny of mammals, Insect cold tolerance, Insect stress hormones, Phylogenetics and bioinformatics, and Primatology and evolutionary anthropology.
